Choose your plan
Two choices: how much data per month, and how many years. As a starting point:
- 100MB/month — light or movement-based reporting
- 200MB/month — shorter reporting intervals or regular live-tracking sessions; a comfortable middle choice for everyday vehicle trackers
- 500MB/month — frequent live tracking, geofence events and platform check-ins
- 1GB/month — high-frequency tracking or trackers that send extra data beyond position reports
- 2GB/month — the heaviest tracking configurations and devices with additional data traffic
Actual usage depends on the reporting interval, device behaviour, connection retries, diagnostics and any extra data the tracker generates. Not sure? Leave some headroom and choose the tier above your estimate.
Plan length: 1 year for trials and short projects; 3 years for project-length deployments; 5 or 8 years to match the life of the vehicle, trailer or asset, with connectivity sorted for the long term.

Will this SIM work with my tracker?
It may be suitable if your tracker:
- Uses standard 4G LTE
- Has a removable physical SIM slot
- Uses mobile data to report its position
- Does not need SMS or voice for normal ongoing operation
Not suitable for:
- 2G or 3G-only trackers — New Zealand's 3G networks have been shut down
- LTE-M (Cat-M1)-only or NB-IoT-only trackers
- Trackers without a removable physical SIM slot
- Trackers restricted to a proprietary SIM or provider service
- Trackers that require voice or SMS for normal ongoing operation

Why pay once for a tracker?
A tracker rides along with the vehicle or asset for years. A monthly SIM brings bills, card expiries and recharge dates along with it — and a missed recharge means the tracker goes quiet exactly when you are not looking at it.

How it works
- Select your monthly data allowance and plan duration above.
- Your SIM ships to your address in New Zealand.
- Insert the SIM and power on your tracker. The plan starts counting from the SIM's first network connection — not the order date — so you can order ahead of an installation.
Spark + 2degrees 4G network access
The SIM can access both the Spark and 2degrees 4G networks. The network used depends on availability and service conditions at the tracker's location — relevant for vehicles and assets that move between urban and regional areas, and for trailers, caravans and machinery parked at rural properties. Check coverage for the areas where the tracker will operate.
Important information
- Data only: no voice calls or SMS.
- Standard 4G LTE only: LTE-M (Cat-M1), NB-IoT-only and 2G/3G-only trackers are not supported.
- Physical SIM required: the tracker must have a removable SIM slot.
- Plan validity starts on first network connection.
- If the monthly allowance is used up, data pauses until the next month — there are no excess usage charges.
- Unused data does not roll over. Each month provides the selected allowance; the plan is not a single pooled total.
- Not designed for continuous video streaming or other sustained high-volume applications such as dash cams. A larger allowance adds data headroom; it does not improve signal or coverage.
Managing several trackers?

FAQ
When does the plan start counting down?
From the day the SIM first connects to the network inside your device — not from the day you order.
Does this SIM have monthly fees?
No. You pay once for the selected plan term. There are no monthly subscription fees or automatic renewals.
What happens if the tracker uses its monthly allowance?
Data pauses for the rest of that month and resumes with the next monthly allowance. Unused data does not roll over, and there are no excess usage charges.
Which network does the SIM use — Spark or 2degrees?
The SIM can access both Spark and 2degrees 4G networks. The network used depends on availability and service conditions at the tracker's location.
My tracker needs SMS commands for setup — can I still use this SIM?
This SIM is data-only. If your tracker needs SMS commands for initial configuration, complete that step with an SMS-capable SIM first, then switch to the FinchTel SIM for ongoing data connectivity. This works on trackers that store the applied settings on the device itself — check your model's manual. Trackers that need SMS for normal ongoing operation are not suitable.
Can I order SIMs for several vehicles or assets?
Yes — select the quantity at checkout. Each SIM's plan runs from its own first connection. For larger deployments, contact us before ordering.
What happens when the plan term ends?
Data service ends when the term finishes. Plans are extendable — contact us before expiry to extend the service on the same SIM.
